Since 1976, Sonoma Land Trust has been conserving scenic, agricultural, and open land for the future of Sonoma County.

The MISSION of the Sonoma Land Trust (SLT) is to protect the scenic, natural, agricultural and open landscapes of Sonoma County for the benefit of the community and future generations.

Why is it important?

Being one of the most beautiful and biologically diverse counties in the United States, Sonoma Land Trust believes the land is the heart of the community and that when the land is healthy, the community is healthy. Since 1976, Sonoma Land Trust as a non-governmental, non-profit organization relying on membership contributions, has protected more than 50,000 acres of beautiful, productive and environmentally significant land throughout the county.

How do they do it?
  • Sonoma Land Trust benefits the community by developing long-term land protection strategies
  • Promotes private and public funding for land conservation
  • Acquires land and conservation easements
  • Practices stewardship, including restoration of conservation properties
  • Promotes a sense of place and land ethics through activities, education and outreach
  • Inspires future generations for conservation with Bay Camp, a bilingual summer camp for kids aged 7-12 where they learn and experience the ecology of this vital habitat
