Travel Kindly: Los Angeles

Favorite

As the first statewide regenerative travel program kicks off with Visit California & Kind Traveler, Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (LATCB), a proud destination partner in the program, launches a new wave of opportunities for travelers to make a positive impact when visiting Los Angeles. To mobilize this new opportunity, participating hotels in the region prioritizing sustainability and community impact share exclusive offers on KindTraveler.com incentivizing travelers to give back to selected charities. Through this new initiative advancing regenerative travel principles, LA Tourism is empowering a new generation of responsible travelers to work towards a sustainable future for the City of Angels.

The Los Angeles charity beneficiaries include:

  • The Gentle Barn, California: Teaching people kindness and compassion to animals, each other, and the plant.
  • Marine Mammal Care Center: The only year-round marine animal hospital in LA County.
  • Midnight Mission: Offers a path to self-sufficiency for LA’s most disadvantaged individuals and families.
  • spcaLA: Working to help homeless dogs, cats and rabbits of Los Angeles find shelter and care.
  • Venice Family Clinic: Provides quality, primary health care to people in need.

With more than 97% of travelers revealing that it’s important for their vacation dollars to positively impact the communities they visit (Kind Traveler 2022 Impact Tourism Report), it has never been easier to dream big and plan a vacation that not only creates meaningful memories, but also a lasting community impact. Through the simple act of booking a hotel with Kind Traveler, travelers can now travel kindly and meaningfully support the local community with the selected Los Angeles charity beneficiaries, with 100% of the traveler’s donation supporting the designated charity.

In the city where everyone is welcome, responsible travelers will appreciate vibrant multicultural neighborhoods, thousands of miles of hiking and biking trails that create carbon-free amusement, 75 miles of sunny coastline, 50+ farmers’ markets, farm-to-table & plant-based dining galore, a large diversity of wildlife and conservation initiatives throughout the city, and many earth-friendly attractions such as Griffith Observatory, Topanga State Park and more. Los Angeles has 214 acres of open space and more theaters and museums than any other city in the U.S. Always a leader in sustainability, L.A. was the first city to mandate city buildings be LEED certified, and now has the nation's largest fleet of natural gas-powered, green buses.

The way it works is simple: Through Kind Traveler’s Give + Get hotel booking and media platform, travelers unlock exclusive offers from participating Kind Hotels with a $10 or more donation to the selected Los Angeles charity beneficiaries, or to another charity of choice on the platform. Positive impact metrics are shared with every booking empowering future visitors with specific details about how their travel dollars are supporting the local community. As an example, a $10 donation to Midnight Mission will provide four boxes of food for a family in need; a $10 donation to Venice Family Clinic will provide wellness and mental health programming to an individual in need; and a $10 donation to spcaLA will feed one homeless dog for two days. Travelers additionally have an opportunity to plant trees at the time of booking with Arbor Day Foundation; one-dollar plants one tree.

To further sustainability awareness, travelers also have an opportunity to learn about each property's sustainability, wellness and community impact features. Local neighborhood guides are shared with each hotel profile inspiring conscious, mindful, local travel opportunities and other ways to do good for the day or give back locally.
