ABOUT

The Setting

Six Senses Zighy Bay is a two-hour journey across the Musandam Peninsula from Dubai, but getting there is all the fun. By land; a 4x4 trek takes you through the craggy lunar-like Hajar Mountains. By sea; a speedboat glides across the emerald Gulf of Oman landing on the hotel’s pristine beach. By air; a paraglider from on-high descends you into the traditional Omani village-styled resort. Now that you’re here walking the sandy paths, you’ll learn the hotel was voted best in the Middle East for sustainability for a reason. Caring for the environment and looking after local schools, infrastructure and hospitals is what they do.

The hotel also focuses their community impact on women’s access to education. On top of that, they produce their own bottled water from the Gulf using reverse osmosis, the filtered out saltwater is then used in the saltwater pool (the largest in the Middle East). So check-in, enjoy your welcome smoothie made with dates plucked from the resort’s palms and go for a swim with one of the resident camels. Oh yeah, you’ll also learn nothing about this stay will be ordinary.

Sleep and Sanctuary

Privacy and relaxation are the foundation of the 82 family-friendly villas, all built of natural stone and timber. Dwellings range from one bedroom pool villas with beachfront views to a sprawling four bedroom Gulfside retreat with a 24/7 private chef. All the Omani-style enclaves invite you to unwind under high traditional-style ceilings, in the colorfully cushioned living areas and on organic Naturalmat beds made with fine unbleached cotton sheets, topped with your choice of ergonomic pillows. Refresh outside by falling into your private infinity pool, or take a cool outdoor shower using organic soap made on-property within the privacy of high cobblestone walls. Or, simply drink in the Arabian night and count the stars from your plumped up loungers.

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Most of your dining on the peninsula will most likely take place at Six Senses Zighy Bay, and that is great news. Embark on a culinary journey from a hilltop restaurant serving signature Spanish-inspired cuisine and evening views over the crystal waters of the Gulf of Oman, to authentic Bedouin-style dining on the beach, tapas at an al fresco bar, feasting from Arabic delicacies made in a traditional mud kitchen, to dining with a private chef in your villa. All dining outposts collectively specialize in wellness and healthy choices,  much of the produce originated in the region and the resort’s own organic garden and farm.

HOW TO GET THERE

By Plane

Zighy Bay is 75 miles (120 km) or a 120-minute drive from Dubai International Airport (DXB)

By 4x4

A dramatic round-trip transfer through the mountains between Dubai International Airport and the resort by 4WD starts from USD 255 net per car per way for a maximum of three guests. This will be arranged and booked accordingly by the resort upon making a reservation.

By Speedboat

To enrich the experience, the resort offers additional arrival by a 15-minute speedboat from Dibba Marina to Zighy Marina starting from USD 80 net per guest each way

By Paraglider

Yes, paraglide arrival is an option (the peninsula is world-renowned for its paragliding), you’ll be strapped to the resort’s professional paraglider starting at USD 195 net per guest. “That’s one way to make an entrance,” you should remember to say.

By Automobile

For a cheaper option, you can now drive a rental car from the UAE to Oman with well kept roads (some with tolls) along the way. Please, note that many suppliers accept the request for travelling from Dubai to Oman, but there will be formalities such as an extra charge for crossing the borders between the UAE and Oman. Vehicles drive on the right. Parking is free at Six Senses.

*As per governing law from the United Arab Emirates and Sultanate of Oman, no alcohol is permitted on your person when crossing the border. Please note that the flying of drones is prohibited in Oman and it is therefore not allowed at the resort.

*Some visitors entering the UAE require an entry visa that needs to be arranged prior to arrival, with the exception of certain nationalities. For more details about UAE visa and border pass requirements, please view this document, or contact [email protected].
