ABOUT
The Setting
As your speedboat whisks you across the smooth waters of Ninh Van Bay towards Six Senses, be sure to take notice of the impressive waterside rock formations, white sand beach and mountainous jungle backdrop. As you near, the resort will appear, as if born out of the landscape. You will feel this connection to nature the moment you step ashore to this hideaway that the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has given its Level 5 Green Lotus Label to. Six Senses knows to be part of nature is to conserve it. They source a majority of materials locally and incorporate a resident Terrestrial Biologist, who is charged with protecting the critically endangered Black-shanked douc langurs (a type of monkey) as well as provide a comprehensive study on the biodiversity of the resort area. They clean area beaches and provide filtered drinking water to local communities including two primary schools. The hotel also sets aside a percentage of total revenue to fund local community and environmental projects. Evidently, the sixth sense is Kindness.
Sleep and Sanctuary
Sprinkled all over the verdant cove from the beachfront to the hilltops are Six Senses' sixty-two villas, ranging from spacious one-bedroom hideaways to expansive jungle retreats. All of the secluded villas (some reached by jungle path or private boat) are spacious with two rooms and either a garden terrace or large sundeck. Regardless of whether your villa is on the beach, over the water, between large granite rocks, or on a jungle mountain slope, you will be spoiled with sumptuous panoramic East Vietnam Sea views, outdoor garden showers and a private plunge pool. The science of sleep at Six Senses is held in high regard, with some of the best sleeping tools like handmade mattresses from natural materials, temperature regulating pillows and duvets to organic cotton sheets ready to swaddle you.
Eat. Pray. Eat.
When it comes to dining at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, you will be presented the age-old query, "where?"... Quite literally, restaurants are placed to take geographic advantage of the stunning property and aptly named, Dining by the Bay, Dining by the Rocks, Dining by the Pool or Dinner in the Wine Cave. Wherever you choose, you'll be swayed by breathtaking scenery, fresh organic produce grown in temperate Dalat and a bounty straight from the sea. Should you be imbibing between meals, naturally, Drinks by the Beach or Drinks by the Bay is where you'll head.
