Provide life changing, therapeutic recreational opportunities for individuals with disabilities which promote independence and personal growth.
Why is it important?
The Telluride Adaptive Sports Program (TASP) is a non-profit organization that provides top-quality therapeutic recreation to individuals with disabilities to promote independence and personal growth. Under the mantra to Challenge, Empower, & Inspire, their professionally trained instructors and volunteers assess student needs, set up appropriate adaptive equipment, and provide instruction or guiding services. Participants range in age from four to 94 and may have physical, emotional, and cognitive disabilities.
For nearly 30 years, TASP has offered inclusivity while empowering everyone to enjoy the great outdoors. Their participants choose from various adaptive activities and participate equally with family and friends. Whether someone is a newcomer to adaptive sports or looking to notch a new goal, their experienced team can support participants in most pursuits while offering the best instruction for them. They cater to each person’s cognitive and physical ability level and their learning curve. In the process, they model healthy living, boost confidence, foster socialization, and make memories. This approach carries over to our lives off the trail, mountain, or lake.
