ABOUT

The Setting

Originally built in 1865 for the estate manager of the 800-year-old Ashford Castle, The Lodge has carved out its own elegant niche on this expansive 350-acre Irish estate. Gaze out windows to inspiring vistas of magical Lough Corrib, one of Ireland’s largest lakes, backed by the rolling, emerald hills of Connemara National Park.

On the other side of the estate gates, you’ll find charming Cong village, Medieval abbeys, and the breathtaking beauty of nearby Keem Bay. What’s even more beautiful is The Lodge’s commitment to sustainability. For example, they’ve aimed to eliminate single-use plastics, implemented renewable energy, harvest rainwater for consumption across the property, and work alongside the local community of Cong to become Ireland’s first green destination. Let’s just say green is the new emerald.

Sleep and Sanctuary

The individually-designed Deluxe Rooms and Supreme Deluxe Rooms are filled with creativity and always keep guests’ comfort in mind, using carefully chosen pieces and a calm palette to complement the breathtaking countryside and lake views seen from every traditional sash window. Each spacious room has a distinct character, with curated artworks and chic contemporary furniture personally chosen by founder, Beatrice Tollman, and her daughter Toni.

Those opting for the suite life will find generously proportioned suites, all equipped with the latest technology for your utmost comfort. Private outdoor spaces allow you to breathe the pure air for which the West of Ireland is famed and all of the bathrooms boast extra-soft towels and eco-friendly luxury toiletries.

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Passion is a flavor profile in every dish at The Lodge, thanks in part to Executive Chef Jonathan Keane’s knack for finding the country’s highest quality ingredients paired with his bright, creative vision. Recently named best chef in Ireland by the Good Eating Guide, you’ll find chef Keane helming Wilde’s at The Lodge or foraging the estate grounds for home-grown produce. Nearby, the vibrant Quay Bar and Brasserie offers innovative cocktails and laid-back comfort cuisine alongside vast Lough Corrib views from the alfresco terrace. For more dining experiences, including the fine-dining George V or casual Cullen’s at the Cottage, you can work up an appetite with a 20-minute stroll across the estate to Ashford Castle. Then, work it all off on the 20-minute stroll back (transportation may also be arranged).
