The organization focuses on improving patient care, enhancing quality of life, and promoting functional and occupational rehabilitation. Additionally, Medicare Onlus works to spread awareness about cancer prevention and supports research initiatives in the field of oncology.

How do they do it?

By combining compassionate care with a commitment to scientific progress, Medicare Onlus plays a vital role in improving the lives of those affected by cancer in Sicily. They provide direct assistance, including financial aid for medical expenses, their Medicare bus offers free transportation to treatment centers and access to specialized care. They offer counseling services, support groups, and personalized psychological therapy, creating a nurturing environment for patients and caregivers alike. Casa Lina is a reception home for cancer patients that is intended to accommodate the patient who has to face oncological treatment at hospitals in Catania and/or one of his companions. The house, equipped with eight beds and all the necessary comforts, accommodates people living outside Catania for free. Medicare Onlus also fosters cancer prevention by organizing educational campaigns and free screening programs in local communities, raising awareness about early detection and healthy lifestyles.
