ABOUT
The Setting
A showcase for the city’s best with a nostalgic vibe that pays tribute to an era of decadence through high-end design and over-the-top style. Bold decor. Refreshing service. Diverse culinary options. Glamourous event venues. Kissel strikes the perfect balance between style and comfort being the ideal place for locals to commune and travelers to get a genuine taste of The Town.
The stylish new Kissel Uptown also adds some color to an already diverse and inclusive community and places you in the heart of it all. Walk to Lake Merritt for a hefty dose of recreation, enjoy a show at the historic art-deco Fox Theater, or take in the scene at The Hive next door, Oakland’s buzziest new shopping and gathering space.
Sleep and Sanctuary
The art of the urban retreat is on display in Kissel’s 168 pet-friendly rooms and 10 premium suites. Find each well-appointed with chic decor and locally-sourced items. Bathe amongst Italian elegance in bathrooms featuring Cipollino marble-clad vanities, handcrafted ceramic wall tiles, Kohler fixtures and rain showers and/or soaking tubs. Choose from rooms Uptown views and King and Queen Queen rooms with terraces (Kind Travelers are guaranteed an upgrade). Or, if you’re feeling really saucy, indulge in the high-in-the-sky Presidential Suite.
Eat. Pray. Eat.
The Kissel brings some flavor to the bustling Uptown Oakland dining scene with two distinct outposts. Otto’s Coffee + Donuts + Beer and High 5ive Rooftop Bar are where you can take in views over Broadway savoring signature cocktails and small refined bites or start your day off noshing on specialty coffees and snacks absorbing lively lobby vibes. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available at both eateries.
