The winners of Fast Company’s 2021 World Changing Ideas Awards were announced, honoring the businesses, policies, projects, and concepts that are actively engaged and deeply committed to pursuing innovation when it comes to solving health and climate crises, social injustice, or economic inequality.
For the corporate social responsibility category, Kind Traveler was honored as a finalist for a Fast Company 2021 World Changing Ideas Award.

As a veteran and women-owned Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), Kind Traveler is the world’s first socially conscious Give + Get hotel booking and media platform that empowers travelers to positively impact the communities they visit. The way it works is simple: Travelers unlock exclusive rates & perks from curated Kind Hotels when giving a $10 nightly donation to a vetted charity that positively impacts the community they are visiting, or to a charity of choice. 100% of donations go to charity. Kind Traveler represents Kind Hotels and tourism boards in 22 countries and 70+ charities globally.

Impact opportunity examples for travelers include helping to plant trees with Arbor Day Foundation and One Tree Planted, supporting land conservation efforts with Sonoma Land Trust, and benefitting food banks that will provide nutritious meals to families in-need.

As tourism begins to recover, data shows that 55 percent of travelers want to see how their travel dollars are going back into the community. Kind Traveler’s impact travel opportunities are a meaningful pathway to regenerate and heal communities that have been economically devastated from Covid-19.

A panel of eminent Fast Company editors and reporters selected winners and finalists from a pool of more than 4,000 entries across transportation, education, food, politics, technology, and more. The 2021 awards feature entries from across the globe, from Brazil to Denmark to Vietnam.

Showcasing some of the world’s most inventive entrepreneurs and companies tackling exigent global challenges, Fast Company’s Summer 2021 issue (on newsstands May 10) highlights, among others, a lifesaving bassinet; the world’s largest carbon sink, thanks to carbon-eating concrete; 3D-printed schools; an at-home COVID-19 testing kit; a mobile voting app; and the world’s cleanest milk.
