With a clear vision and core values, GreenViet or “Green Vietnam,” is leading biodiversity conservation in Vietnam’s Central and Central Highlands regions.
The MISSION of GreenViet is to protect Vietnam’s ecosystems and endangered species of flora and fauna through conservation and community engagement activities.
Why is it important?
-
Since 2012, GreenViet Center has worked side-by-side with local communities to conserve and develop important ecosystems, protect local Langur populations and conserve biodiversity in the central highland regions including Da Nang, Quang Nam, Kon Tum, Khanh Hoa.
-
Due to their diligence, three species of Douc Langur (monkey) are now protected, four Langur habitats are now protected, over 500 people have joined in conservation journeys, over 25,000 primary and secondary students have access to biodiversity and conservation education and over 1,000 trees have been planted across three regions.
How do they do it?
-
The scope of work for GreenViet centers on the principles of Research on biodiversity to establish a scientific database for conservation activities in the Central and Central Highlands regions, Communication and education with a focus on raising community awareness about Biodiversity Conservation, and Policy to provide information to state agencies, press, and relevant organizations with the aim of getting the whole community involved in conservation activities.
-
GreenViet Center has 8 years of experience working in the field of biodiversity conservation. With clear goals, missions and a strong method of approach, the Center has mobilized enthusiastic participation of communities, volunteers, journalists, scientists, and government advocates to promote public conservation in the Central region - more specifically the Central Highlands.
