ABOUT
The Setting
The Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows rests on five lush acres on the cliffs overlooking Santa Monica Beach and the Pacific Ocean. You might even say hallowed ground, and you’d be right. The hotel property is the former private estate of the founder of Santa Monica, then named “Miramar” Spanish for “view of the sea." What’s also true is there are 31 unique bungalows scattered throughout verdant gardens (a rarity on L.A’s westside), a swanky indoor/outdoor watering hole that local scenesters can only describe as “the place to be,” and an eco-friendly spa and fitness studio. Attracting discerning visitors since 1921, this historic property is now looking to the future. They're heading towards a plastic-free future and have a dedicated green sustainability team; even its on-site Vilebrequin boutique uses recycled fabrics and contributes to saving our oceans. Hey, if you had to look at that big beautiful blue ocean every day, you’d want to save it, too.
Sleep and Sanctuary
At Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows, you will discover 297 elegant, pet-friendly guest rooms and unique residential suites that offer a unique experience as the Pacific Ocean unfolds. Immaculately designed by Linda Murray, you’ll find lodgings that feel residential that fuse the contemporary with classic California lifestyle, some with verdant patios, balconies, and such. What makes this property so unique is Fairmont Miramar is the only beachside hotel in Los Angeles to feature bungalow accommodations. Built between 1920 and 1946, the bungalows exemplify the relaxed comfort of Southern California-style living by the sea. With various configurations, the 31 bungalows are ideal for couples seeking a romantic retreat, families looking to get away and business travelers seeking coastal comfort. If you luck out and it’s available, we implore you to retreat to one of LA's most exclusive accommodations, Bungalow One. A customized three-bedroom suite, Bungalow One is ideal for those seeking a contemporary beachside oasis to write the next great American novel (or kick back and relax in style).
Eat. Pray. Eat.
Santa Monica locals and jet-setting gadabouts are already tuned into the eclectic (and electric) dining and social scene at Fairmont Miramar. Now it’s time you discovered the lifestyle-centric F & B program specializing in seasonally-inspired local menus and all-around revelry. Fig is your mainstay with refined and rustic dishes harvested from Santa Monica’s inspiring Farmers' Markets. The few very coveted eight chairs at Soko, in a secluded reformed storeroom off the lobby, welcome guests to a celebration of the origins of sushi by master sushi chef Masasuke Shimakawa. Open and airy, with palm fronds swaying in the ocean breeze, the inviting indoor-outdoor Lobby Lounge is the perfect place to host a meeting, have lunch with friends, or grab happy hour cocktails and ready your game plan for a night out at The Bungalow. This sprawling indoor/outdoor Baja-chic adult playpen has become a staple to Santa Monica scenesters and Venice creatives. Thankfully, the following morning you can recharge with fresh brews and teas from Dogtown Coffee.
