ABOUT
The Setting
Find your aloha spirit with an Oahu getaway that gives back. Located on Waikiki’s Upper West Side, discover The Equus, the only family-owned boutique hotel in Waikiki. Also known as the first green hotel in Waikiki as endorsed by the Green Hotels Association, the family spirit of Equus serves as a warm and welcoming home base just steps away from the two-mile coastline of this historical surf destination rich in Polynesian and Pacific cultures. What’s also impressive is The Equus’ mission to Malama the ‘Aina (care for the Earth) by helping local reforestation, repurposing furniture in-house with local craftsmen, and donating partially used bath products to local un-housed residents. Hmmm, Kind paradise in paradise?
Sleep and Sanctuary
The 67 newly re-designed Deluxe and Classic guest rooms give you “island home away from mainland home” feels with plenty of Aloha to go around. All the cozy rooms feature heavenly pillow-top beds and handcrafted Italian linens, while incorporating antique and wood furnishings that are refinished and refurbished in-house, supporting local woodworkers and maintenance jobs as well as reducing waste. Also, find local artists murals & photography in-room, and historic photos of the property lining the hallways. Most rooms feature lanais for some outside relaxing and all rooms feature fridge/freezer combos, coffee makers with organic coffee and teas and biodegradable bath amenities by Earth Tempo.
