The MISSION of the club is to inspire and empower young people, especially those who need it the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring adults.
Why is it important?
More than 1.2M kids in California leave school with nowhere to go. They risk being unsupervised, unguided, and safe. With 19 percent of young people in Los Angeles failing to graduate from high school and 22 percent of them involved in a physical fight over the last year, high school dropout prevention and youth empowerment programs are needed. Additionally, 30 percent of young people ages 10 to 17 in Los Angeles are overweight or obese; the need for wellness programs has never been higher.
How do they do it?
They provide out-of-school educational and enrichment programs to disadvantaged, low-income students. Their programs help students stay and achieve in school, while also keeping them sheltered, safe, fed, and supervised away from gangs, crime, drugs, and other risky behaviors during the vulnerable out-of-school hours.
