Ella Messerli brings with her a vast realm of knowledge and expertise in Sales and Marketing in the international luxury hotel industry. Her skill set and recognition as one of the 200 Most Influential Women in Travel (1998) and as a top hotelier in Mexico earning the National Hotelier “Premio Diamante” for her contributions to the industry’s development, made her the ideal choice to lead Hotel El Ganzo, a 70-room arts-inspired boutique hotel in San Jose del Cabo. Messerli’s role with Hotel El Ganzo began 18 months after the hotel’s first opening. Due to damages caused by Hurricane Odile, a category four storm that hit Los Cabos in 2014, Hotel El Ganzo underwent a reconstruction period; all efforts were spearheaded by Messerli who reopened the hotel in October 2015.
Her current role at Hotel El Ganzo includes implementing new operational and service standards and increasing annual revenue. A veteran in the Los Cabos tourism market, Messerli spent a decade as the Managing Director of Marquis Los Cabos. Her experience at the Marquis was inclusive of personally coaching new hires, developing and maintaining the Executive Team, and implementing ongoing green initiatives. Prior to Marquis Los Cabos, she acted as Vice President of Marketing & Sales for Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts Mexico and was responsible for all marketing activities including the strategic planning of pricing, sales, and Advertising & PR budgets. She also directly supervised eight hotel sales directors, and managed four sales offices in the U.S. and Mexico while efficiently maintaining an annual company budget of over 350 million dollars. Additional hotel recognitions earned throughout her career include Condé Nast Gold List Award, Travel + Leisure’s Top 25 Hotels in Mexico, and AAA Four Diamonds. Hotel El Ganzo was recently named one of the Top Hotels in Mexico by Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Awards (ranking # 12) (2017).
