Live “la vida local” at this Kind Hotel on Washington’s distinctive Long Beach Peninsula.

The Setting

Smack dab in the middle of the Long Beach Peninsula, a 21-mile stretch of Washington coast known for historic trails and spectacular sunsets, is Adrift Hotel. Here, you’ll find comfy rooms designed from local materials, a locavore restaurant showcasing the surrounding bounty, an artisan spirits distillery, a quiet library, and a spa with a saline pool and barrel sauna. Now imagine all this wrapped up in a rustically chic package that is committed to sustainability. We know, we’ll race you there.

Sleep and Sanctuary

Each of the rooms and suites are thoughtfully designed using recycled materials from the local landscape with modern industrial accents. Kind Travelers (and their pets) searching for a little more peace and quiet will appreciate the East side rooms as opposed to the more lively west/lobby side. The ocean can be viewed from all rooms but for a more head-on oceanic presentation select an oceanfront room. Find other such comforts as memory foam topped beds, free Wi-Fi and Earth-friendly bath products.

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Eating and drinking on your stay will be an authentically local experience. In the restaurant [pickled fish], Executive Chef China Martinez stays close to her Pacific Northwest roots by selecting locally sourced ingredients with care and observation of the seasons. Paired with plates like roasted cauliflower orzotto with pearled barley and herbed salad is nightly live music reflecting the vibe of the Northwest. Be sure to drink up, too, every month a local non-profit charity or campaign is chosen to receive 50 percent of the profits from a specially designed cocktail. Also, pop into Adrift Distillers on-site tasting room to taste their handcrafted distinctive spirits and learn about the journey from grain to glass.

The Art of De-stressing

Adrift Spa is your depot for reinvigorating and rejuvenating the body. Choose from a number of treatments including integrated massage and aromatherapy, cupping, facials, and table yoga, which is a three-dimensional experience where the muscles, tendons, ligaments, as well as the joints receive the benefit of movement and massage. All services incorporate natural and cruelty oils and products.

Inside the pool house (where the spa resides) you’ll find the heated saline pool, a barrel sauna, and fire pit. Grab a book from Adrift’s library and perfect your chill. Or, grab a free cruiser bike and set out for a day of adventure on the Discovery Trail (right in front of the hotel) and take in all the surrounding natural wonders of Long Beach.
