To empower people in San Luis Obispo County to make positive change by providing food, shelter, and supportive services.
Why is it important?
Since its inception in 2001, The El Camino Homeless Organization Shelter has been a critical asset to San Luis Obispo County. Operating campuses in both Atascadero and Paso Robles, the shelter provides services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. By offering safe shelter, nutritious meals, and comprehensive support programs, ECHO addresses immediate needs while facilitating long-term stability through case management and housing assistance. Their aim is not only to improve the quality of life for those in crisis but also to strengthen the broader community by reducing the social and economic impacts of homelessness. ECHO’s efforts help foster a more inclusive and compassionate community, promoting social equity and well-being across the county.
So far in 2024, ECHO has helped 125 (with this figure sure to multiply) individuals and families find stable housing.
