Preserve, restore, and share the natural wonders of coastal southern Mendocino and northern Sonoma Counties.

Why is it important?

Founded in 1992, Redwood Coast Land Conservancy (RCLC) is a California nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, restoring, and sharing the natural wonders of coastal southern Mendocino and northern Sonoma Counties. In addition to their beauty, these landscapes contain some of the rarest and most varied habitats on earth. As part of the California Floristic Province, scientists have named it one of the planet’s top 25 conservation hotspots.

How do they do it?

The Redwood Coast Land Conservancy (RCLC) is dedicated to preserving, restoring, and sharing the natural beauty of coastal southern Mendocino and northern Sonoma Counties. Through strategic land acquisitions like the 2021 purchase of Mill Bend Preserve, conservation easements, and habitat restoration projects, RCLC ensures the protection of vital ecosystems, including redwood forests, coastal bluffs, and river estuaries. They collaborate with local communities and stakeholders to take pride in maintaining public access to these areas, fostering environmental stewardship and awareness. By preserving these lands, RCLC not only safeguards biodiversity but also provides opportunities for education, recreation, and the appreciation of nature's wonders. RCLC is inspired by the deep belief that nature improves all our lives and plants the seeds for the next generation of natural world stewards.
