Celebrate 20 years of sustainability at a luxurious tropical playground in the Maldives

The Setting

You’ll be downright giddy as your private plane descends over the secluded Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in the Maldives, mainly because hidden in the dense foliage is the Kindest of island hideaways, Soneva Fushi. This “no news, no shoes” resort harmoniously blends sustainability and luxury on a tropical paradise and is surrounded by some of Mother Earth’s most precious and beautiful underwater ecosystems, housing manta rays, sea turtles and dolphins galore. Catch a flick under the stars at the outdoor cinema, ask your personal butler (Mr. or Mrs. Friday) for whatever you desire, or simply kick back in 100 percent carbon neutral luxury like a Kind castaway.

Sleep and Sanctuary

When choosing a villa at Soneva Fushi you’ll be presented with one query, sunrise or sunset? There’s no wrong answer, either choice will offer you lodging on sugary white sand beaches with crystal blue waters at your disposal. Just, the sunset side is more inclined to delight you with dolphin sightings and easy access points to three house reefs for snorkeling, while the sunrise side offers a little more privacy and virtually unimpeded ocean views. In all, the fifty-five thatch-roofed villas (all built from sustainable woods) on the island range from behemoth nine-bedroom reserves to cozy one-bedroom single-story sanctuaries. All pamper you with indoor/outdoor feels, garden bathrooms featuring oversized tubs and most have private seawater pools.

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Your culinary adventures at Soneva Fushi will be like no other and you have an abundance of options (all beef free). Each and every restaurant on-property is a dramatic space unto its own, setting the stage for complete sensory fulfilment. There’s Fresh In the Garden, a Mediterranean inspired outpost high overlooking the gardens offering organic and plant-based bites. Once Upon a Table seats eight and showcases some of the biggest names in International Cuisine. Out Of the Blue overlooked the Indian Ocean and serves Asian cuisine all day. So Hands On is the sushi counter run in partnership with Chef Kenji Gyoten, one of only a handful of three-star Michelin chefs from Japan. Mihiree Mithaa (“Here It Is”) is your all-day bountiful buffet. So Bespoke is an open-air Teppanyaki table with world-class views of the Baa Atoll. Down To Earth by Ravi serves dinner and is designed to be a sharing feast. And lastly, Shades Of Green Chef Carsten Kyser celebrates the garden with a five-course tasting menu after a garden tour (talk about an amuse bouche).

  • Fresh In the Garden - Choose to sit under cover or beneath the starry sky in this plant-focused Mediterranean central open kitchen. Dine on beef free items like vegetable papillote with leeks, courgette, potatoes, tomatoes and black olive wrapped in a banana leaf.
  • Once Upon a Table - This menu free culinary theater showcases some of the best Michelin rated chefs in the world, it seats eight so be sure to lock that down.
  • Out Of the Blue - Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this seaside spot offers Vietnamese and Indonesian cuisine featuring freshly caught seafood, sashimi and vegetarian medlies.
  • So Hands On - Open for dinner Mon, Wed & Fri, Chef Gyoten’s sushi journey is a once in a lifetime experience in a once in a lifetime setting (his Japan restaurant has waits of up to a year). Sit at the Hinoki countertop and dig in.
  • Mihiree Mithaa - Take your pick from this bountiful and beautiful outdoor buffet, offering freshly cut fruits, baked goodies, a salad room, wood-fired pizzas, and Soneva’s ubiquitous ice cream and chocolate rooms.
  • So Bespoke - This open-air Tappenyaki table helmed by Chef Gede Sujana, seats eight for dinner (except Tuesday and Saturdays) and has views stretching as far as the eye can see.
  • Down To Earth by Ravi - Open for dinner (except buffet nights Tues & Sat) this restaurant focuses on the primal bond of sharing. Feast with your group or neighbor on large pre fixe dishes.

  • Destination Dining - Dream up your own menus with our executive chef, and have your meal set out on our sandbank, deep in the jungle or in your villa. The choice is yours. In-Villa Dining - Take advantage of your tropical living spaces with breakfast, lunch, dinner or late-night treats all in the privacy of your villa.
