Do good for the world while you Keep Austin Weird with a stay at Lone Star Court.

The Setting

This one-of-a-kind Kind Hotel is truly an Austin all-star. The city’s tagline to “Keep Austin Weird’ emanates from the property’s very soul, whose country-cool vibes make the farm-house feels more hip than you knew was possible. Lone Star Court’s sprawling four acres...drumroll...wraps around a court, featuring a swimming pool, fire pits, food trucks, barn-like bar and restaurant, and live music four nights a week (plus comped WiFi property wide). If this sounds more like glamping than a traditional hotel, you’ve caught onto its charm: Lone Star actually touts itself as a full-on glamping experience, but with hotel rooms instead of tents (because luxury, comforts, technology, etc.). But if you thought this place couldn’t get any better, think again. Its location with conveniency to some of Austin’s best attractions makes the goodness just keep on giving. Do your wallet a little damage at the nearby Domain or Arboretum shopping centers, or catch a Longhorns game at University of Texas, also minutes away. Diving into the local community is what Kind Traveling is all about!

Sleep and Sanctuary

Rooms at Lone Star Court follow a “retro-ranch” theme, spanning 123 guestrooms as well as three suites. Take a trip back in time–but touched up with modernity–with decor that’s as soothing as the Southwest gets. Fun features include sliding barn doors between guestrooms and baths, metal style headboards, granite countertops, and even rocking chairs on the wraparound porches for pure, old-fashioned relaxation (included in every room). Other amenities include iPad and iPhone docking stations, 42” TV’s, full size Smeg refrigerators, vintage soda crates with local snacks, natural LATHER bath products, as well as Katz coffee, whose Kind mission revolves around environemntal responsibility.

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Dining at the hotel is all about local flavors, with a little funk mixed in. Ever heard of a hotel with a rotating food-truck lineup, including one truck of its own, plus the constant of a cupcake bakery? While it sounds too cool to be true, this is in fact Lone Star’s reality. Add in an on-site restaurant and bar–which hosts live music four nights a week–and a continental breakfast to (cowboy) boot, and I do believe we’ve struck hotel dining gold.

  • Water Trough Restaurant and Bar  – This country-chic haunt is as ragingly fun as its flavors are phenomenal. Built like a barn, slide up to communal tables or the large indoor fireplace, or if feeling the fresh air, the outdoor deck with fire pits instead. Pair this with this come kick a** drinks and live music to serenade your meal–a serious scene in Austin, which gives the city much of its fame–and your experience alone makes this restaurant a true winner (check out the rotating performances here). Yet we haven’t even gotten to the best part: its Texas-style grub. Water Trough’s menu is largely meat and seafood driven, as is traditional of the American Southwest. However, that’s not to say plants aren't available! Get your green on with crispy sautéed brussel sprouts or a side of house baked collard greens. Then reward yourself with either (or both) of the decadent desserts: bourbon caramel bread pudding or black bottom pecan pie, both served with ice cream (vanilla and coffee, respectfully). Drooling expected.

  • Food Truck Court: Feat. Feed Store Food Truck  – For a truly unique dining experience, head to the hotel’s food truck court. The standout here is Lone Star’s own truck, Feed Store, featuring fuss-free, simple dishes like roasted poblano mac and cheese and truffle-drizzled french fries. When it’s time for the sweet treat, walk on up to Cupcaking Desire, another constant in the mix. With 27 flavors to choose from–including vegan options!–in addition to other pastries and cookies, the hardest part will be picking which cake to take on first. Yet the trucks keep on truckin’. Lone Star hosts a variety of Austin’s most popular independent food trucks, meaning you can enjoy something new and different every time you stay. Another way to say this? The more time you Give via KindTraveler.com to Get our exclusive hotel rate, the more Austin awesomeness will be yours for the tasting. Forks away!
The Art of De-stressing

Looking to sweat? Lone Star offers fitness options both in and outdoors. If you’re more of a gym goer, hit up the state-of-the-art fitness center on-site at the hotel. Those instead seeking nature can pedal their way to pristine shape using Lone Star’s complimentary bicycle rentals. Austin is a place meant to be explored; why not get a workout while you’re at it?

The hotel’s spacious courtyard (hence the hotel’s name) is home to a turquoise beauty: its spacious swimming pool. Make a splash with your cannonball, then practice your boozy breaststroke with beverage service from Water Trough.

Make way for added space and glam in the hotel’s suites. Lounge about your separate living room, featuring a couch with pull-out king, or rub-a-dub-dub in your roomy bathtub. Bubbles encouraged!
