Lose yourself to luxury at Hotel Valencia, San Jose.

The Setting

Techies, travelers, and wine-tourists alike all flock to San Jose–and we’re welcoming Kind Travelers to the fun. Nestled amongst some of NorCal's biggest hot-spots (like Silicon Valley, Santa Cruz, and bustling San Francisco), day-trip here options abound. But the true beauty of lesser-known San Jose is that it’s a prime vacation destination of its own, too. Looking to catch a football game? The 49ers play minutes away. Or hoping to sip your way through the Bay Area’s numerous vineyards? Sign up for a tour--there are tons to choose from. And as Hotel Valencia is the only accommodation on San Jose’s Santana Row (an activity central in downtown San Jose) the city’s best to-do’s lie merely steps outside your doorstep. The only question is, what to do first?

Sleep and Sanctuary

This luxurious Kind hotel is home to 215 guestrooms and 17 suites. Mornings will take on a whole new meaning while getting prepped in your classic, Italian white marble bathroom. Lather up using all-natural LATHER botanicals, then don your waffle robe to get primped in front of the lighted makeup mirror (if you please). After a day of adventuring, your guestroom awaits to help you unwind as well. Lounge across 300-count Egyptian cotton linens in front of a 50” HDTV while you can catch up on your fave Netflix shows using the hote’s complimentary WiFi (just pack your HDMI cord!). As this vacation, why not touch up your mixology skills as well and make yourself a drink in thr personal honor bar? Bottoms up!

Eat. Pray. Eat.

Dining is downright delicious at Hotel Valencia, San Jose. Savor the best, local flavors from Bay Area providers across Executive Chef Ocean Orssten’s three on-site restaurants (and a fourth coming soon). Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are available at each locale. Additionally, a complimentary, continental breakfast is served daily in the lobby for guests. Thank you for your Kindness, Valencia.

  • Oveja Negra – [Main restaurant, coming soon; under renovation]
  • Terrace – Enjoy an al fresco breakfast, lunch, and dinner beneath the glass canopied Terrace [normally a booze-and-small-plates destination, but is upping the ante during Oveja Negra’s construction]. While the surrounding blooming courtyard sets the idyllic scene, the real beauty of Terrace lies in its delectable menu. Start the day with liege brown butter waffles topped with lemon curd, powder sugar, and mixed berries (because YUM). For lunch, veggie standouts include the vegetarian caesar wrap and the mixed greens starter, of dried cranberries, pecans, and zinfandel vinaigrette. When ready for dinner, we recommend an entreé of wild mushroom risotto with asparagus and shaved truffles, before embarking on the following dessert that simply cannot be missed: warm cinnamon sugar doughnuts drizzled with chocolate sauce and salted toffee crème diplomat. Enough said.
  • VBar – Make an entrance through VBar’s metal-beaded curtains to grab a drink at this intimate and ultra-hip lounge. The drink list is enormous, focusing on mules and mojitos in particular, so we’ll give you some ideas get you started. The dragon mule–with SKYY dragon fruit vodka, ginger beer, and lime–has us particularly intrigued, as does the mango mojito, made with Cruzan mango rum, mint, lime juice and soda. Why not taste test a couple to determine your own favorite? As far as dining, VBar offers a small plates menu during happy hour, with options like the smoky, harissa spiced hummus or garlic and herb fries with spicy ketchup. Bring on the heat!
  • Cielo – But the standout feature of this hotel has to be it’s rooftop terrace, Cielo. Open seasonally, this casual lounge area incites jaw-dropping views of the Santa Cruz Mountains–so if visiting during the warmer months, an evening here is a must. When the sun goes down, be sure to cozy up to Cielo’s space heaters and glowing fire pits (with drink in hand, of course, so you’ll be toasty both inside and out). The petit menu here parallels that of VBar, so if your happiest of hours include snacking, you’ve come to the right place.
  • Hotel Valencia offers a 24-hour room service menu, meaning fine dining in pj’s is encouraged.
The Art of De-stressing

Vacationing doesn’t have to mean that wellness falls by the wayside. Be Kind to your body during your San Jose stay and make use of the hotel’s on-site fitness center: open 24-hours, so you can whenever feels right.

Make a splash all-year round in Valencia’s outdoor swimming pool, or warm things up with its bubbling hot tub if you prefer to be hot and un-bothered. Better yet, why not dip between both? Alternating temperatures is proven to aid blood circulation (fun Kind fact). We also recommend de-stressing by checking out the hotel’s events calendar to tune into local happenings at the time of your stay.

Make yourself at home in Valencia’s Traditional guestrooms, offering a single king or two double beds. Large windows welcome views of the hotel’s luscious courtyard–viewed even better from Deluxe Balcony rooms, which add the feature of (drumroll please) a balcony.

Choose from Juniors, Executives, or a Presidential Suite when electing to go for glam. Junior Suites offer more than double the space of standard guestrooms, also invoking spa-like bathrooms with separate soaking tubs and walk-in showers. Executive Suites, on the other hand, split the serenity into two: a private master bedroom and living/lounging room with balcony attached.

Special Rooms

Book the Presidential Suite for utmost snazz and pizzaz. Your most notable upgrade here is space that sprawls on for days: encompassing a dining area, living area with sectional couch, and marble bar with wraparound arm chairs all in one. If entertaining is your game, the Presidential Suite is for you
